Objectives of the Programme Module
 To enable the learner to explore the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of a care worker
 To facilitate an understanding of the importance of multidisciplinary work in the care sector
 To explore the various needs of the clients in a care setting
 To demonstrate an ability to plan and provide enhanced quality of care.
 To explore the need for personal planning and growth
 To enable the learner to apply the skills and concepts in practical setting
 To enable the learner to take responsibility for his/her own learning

Education Requirements
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Minimum statutory school leaving age (16+)


Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.


Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

8. Reflect on relationships with clients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members and
interpersonal issues that arise in care work
