Beauty Therapist Traineeship (Wexford)
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and or in a supervisory capacity to provide specialist beauty and body therapy treatments in a variety of contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.
Employability Statement
On successful completion of the Diplomas listed in this programme applicants will be qualified to operate their own beauty salon or home visiting practice in line with industry standards. They will also be qualified to source employment as Beauty Specialists in Beauty Salons, Hotels, Health Clubs and Spa’s

Target Award
ITEC Diploma for Beauty Specialists – 603/4034/4
Either of the following is essential:
Educated to Leaving Certificate standard, ideally with Biology or a relevant Science Subject
Or
Previously achieved a Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent.
Or
Previously achieved an ITEC/CIBTAC module in the area of Beauty Therapy.
Age Requirements
Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age.
Learning Aptitude
Demonstrate evidence of an interest in and knowledge of the industry.
Good verbal and written command of the English language is required.
Ability to apply themselves to practical tasks.
Good concentration also required as is an ability to study and focus on learning.
Previous Experience
Not necessary but any previous experience in a salon is an advantage.

1- Follow Health & Safety Practice in the Salon

10- Perform facial electrical treatments in a professional and safe manner, to a standard and in a timeframe which reflects industry standards.
11-Monitor and maintain Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
12-Develop Client Care and Communication techniques in Beauty Related Industries
13–Develop knowledge on the importance of social responsibility, the causes, transmission and effects of COVID-19, and the methods used to control transmission, such as correct hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
14-Develop their knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing
15-Understand the structures of the body being worked on during treatments.
16-Perform a full body holistic massage in consultation with the client.
17-Understand the legal and health and safety and professional requirements involved in a beauty therapy business and understand how to operate a successful business.
18-Perform Spa treatments – to include carrying out relevant tests, using products, equipment and techniques to suit client’s treatment needs such as exfoliation, body masks/wraps, sauna, steam, jet shower and hydrotherapy baths
19-Perform Indian Head Massage – to include the use of techniques such as classical Indian Head Massage movements, massage mediums and adapting the treatment to the clients’ specific treatment needs
20-Apply Stone Therapy Massage
21-Provide Epilation Treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the Make-up
