Business Administration with Accounts & Payroll Yr 2.

Programme Aim
Business Administration, 5M2468, is a practical qualification which provides graduates with the skills, knowledge and competencies to work in the public and private sectors, Administrative skills of Payroll and Bookkeeping (SAGE software); and IT skills in Spreadsheets, Databases and Word Processing are taught. Work experience is a core feature in the second year of this programme allowing the learner to apply skills learned and enhances future employability. Medical Administration is an option.
LEO Sponsored “Start Your Own Business” Workshops as well as Social Media Workshops with Digital Marketing can be scheduled in the second year of the programme.

Students may choose to do Medical Administration with Business Administration(QQI 5M2468)and qualify the graduate to work as an office assistant in a medical office environment or in the pharmaceutical administration and support services area.

Applicants who have previous QQI Level 4 accreditation and experience may be able to proceed directly to second year of the programme subject to approval.

Education Requirements
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

Learning Objectives
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competency to restore, retrieve and process information, work independently and under supervision as an administrator. Our graduates have found employment in local public services and businesses. SAGE Software is used.
Graduates have also progressed to Level 6 Business Courses in WCFE. Under the Higher Links Scheme with WIT, Waterford VTOS graduates can progress to a range of degree programmes in Business, IT and Accountancy.
