EY – Computer & Tech skills for Beginners

The aim of this programme is multi purpose. The knowledge, skill and competence acquired on this programme are relevant to personal development and participation in society, community and employment and provides a basis for further progression. The programme covers the acquirement of basic knowledge, skills and competencies in a narrow range of fields of learning including key outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

Education Requirements
No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 1 when accessing a Level 2 programme.

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.


Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate an elementary range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to work under direction.

This programme module aims to equip the Learner with a range of communications skills for use in social, personal and work life and to encourage the Learner to have the confidence to use these skills in their daily lives. Particular focus will be on Healthcare.
Objectives:
To engender in a Learner, the ability to express and interpret concepts, thoughts, feelings, facts and opinions in both oral and written form, including listening, speaking, questioning, reading and writing
To develop an understanding of the importance of good communication skills To develop an appreciation of the wide variety of situations in which different communication skills are used
To develop good reading, writing and interpersonal communication skills for use in a range of situations
To give the Learner confidence in their communication skills
