The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the relevant knowledge, skill and competence in a broad range of personal skills which enable personal development and active citizenship, and/or to progress to employment and/or further education or training.

Education Requirements
Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.


Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies in a broad range of office skills which enable employment, under direct supervision, in a general office, or progression to further education or training.
This course is available to anyone who is unemployed for at least 156 days. They can be in receipt of JSA, JSB, OPFA, Disability Allowance, Dependent on a partner in any of the previous categories or signing for credits. In the case of a person who has been made redundant the 156 days unemployed can be waived. Trainee allowance is payable and a meal and travel allowance where applicable. Childcare is also paid. There is a progression option on completion
