Receptionist Skills QQI 5
The objectives of this course are to cover the following:
1. To explore with the learner professional skills required by a receptionist to operate in a
front line position
2. To create an awareness of the importance of the layout and maintenance of a reception
area
3. To facilitate the learner to explore and implement the procedures involved in the
operation of an efficient front office area
4. To create an awareness of the different systems, networks and equipment in operation
within a reception area
5. To enable the learner to explore an professional attitude to colleagues and clients
6. To enable the learner to appreciate the importance of confidentiality in all business
communication and transactions
7. To enable the learner to use a range of equipment used in the reception area
8. To explore with the learner an appreciation of the aspects of safety and health legislation
at work
9. To assist the learner in developing the academic and vocational language, literacy and
numeracy skills related to Reception and Frontline Office Skills through the medium of the
indicative content
10. To enable the learner to take responsibility for his/her own learning

NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
