Skills to Advance – ILM – Managing Risk in the Workplace

Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board, Services to Business, in collaboration with SOLAS and Enterprise Ireland, is delighted to offer a City and Guilds Level 4 Institute of Leadership and Management module in Managing Risk in the Workplace. This module is being offered via the Government funded Skills to Advance initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees.

As part of the ILM Leadership and Management suite of qualifications, Managing Risk in the Workplace is recognised internationally as a mark of professional management competence and is designed to equip emerging and existing leaders with the skills and knowledge to identify, evaluate, monitor, and minimise risks within their organisation effectively.

Target Award

City & Guilds Certificate in Leadership & Management (L4) – 8605-21

Start Date: 06-05-2026 Hours/week: 06 Hrs 30 Mins Duration: 4 weeks

Education Requirements
The training provider is committed, in principle, to the on-going development of arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Age Requirements
Applicants for any courses leading to the awards listed on this framework must be over 18 years of age.

Participants must be defined as an ‘employee’. Under Skills to Advance policy, ‘employees’ are defined as those who work part-time or full-time under a contract of employment, whether oral or written, express or implied, have recognised rights and duties and are in receipt of pay for their service.

Self-employed persons are eligible to participate. Employees on the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme can also be considered. For the purposes of this programme, participants must be currently employed, or aspire to be promoted to/transferred into a supervisory, team leader or middle management role

Learning Aptitude
Participants must be currently employed, and must be or aspire to be, in a supervisory, team leader or middle management role. Applicants seeking entry to the programme must also be capable of completing the programme assessments. They must have achieved a minimum of a NFQ level 5 major award or its equivalent prior to entry to the programme, or have achieved the relevant skills, knowledge and competences through work experience.

This module is designed to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge to identify, evaluate, monitor, and minimise risks within your organisation effectively.
Wednesdays – 1st Day will be full day in person (06/05/26) followed by 3 half days online and one final week to hand in assignment
To qualify for this course you need to be in employment.
Learners must have good verbal and written command of the English language.
The ability to correctly interpret and respond to written and verbal instruction is essential for both the assessment and tuition elements of this programme.
