Web Design with Information Processing Year 1
Purpose
Year 1 is an introduction to Information Technology and Computer Application Skills including QQI Level 4 Web Design. QQI Level 4 Bookkeeping and QQI Level 5 Business Administration modules are also taught.
The programme content in year one is suitable for learners who wish to retrain or upskill for employment in an office environment. QQI Level 4 ICT Skills 4M8055 accreditation is offered at the end of the first year. The Level 4 ICT Skills Award allows learners to access a range of QQI Level 5 programmes with Waterford VTOS and other FET centres.
In the second year of the programme, the learner will build upon their ICT and Business Skills and achieve a QQI Level 5 Business Administration or Information Processing Award. Graduates will be qualified to do a range of office/administrative duties and to operate both a manual and computerised book keeping and payroll system within an organisation. SAGE Accounts Software – the industrial standard software used by small businesses- is taught.
Graduates also have the option to progress to further education and training e.g. Accounting Technician and under the Higher Links Scheme with SETU, graduates can also progress to a range of degree programmes in Business, IT and Accountancy.

Start Date: 01-09-2025 Hours/week: 22 Hrs 00 Mins Duration: 39 weeks
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

On completion of this programme learners may progress to a QQI Level 5 programme in Business or ICT.
The Local Enterprise Office sponsors “Start Your Own Business” and Digital Media workshops in the second year.
Our graduates who have completed the two year Information Technology & Business Administration programme have progressed to Accounting Technician Apprenticeships or under the Higher Links Scheme have progressed to SETU Diploma and Degree programmes e.g. BSC (H) in Applied Computing; Bachelor of Business (H); BA (H) in Marketing & Digital Media and BSc in Software Systems Development.
