STA – ILM MANAGING RISK IN THE WORKPLACE (Level 4)

This qualification is available as a concise Award, a broader Certificate and a comprehensive Diploma, as follows:
• ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management
• ILM Level 4 Certificate in Leadership and Management
• ILM Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management

This programme comprises a wide range of modules covering core management skills, including how to organise and delegate, skills in communication, team leadership, change, innovation and managing people and relationships.

The Level 4 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management are designed for new and aspiring middle managers. These qualifications help learners to really get to grips with their role, gain comprehensive business knowledge, and develop the technical skills they need to lead effectively at this level.

The programme aim is to equip employees who are currently performing, or recently appointed to a supervisory management role, with enhanced skills to lead and manage their teams effectively.

Employability Statement:

These qualifications are designed for new and aspiring department heads, regional team leaders and other middle managers.

The aim of these awards is to equip employees who are currently employed or aspire to be employed in a supervisory management role with enhanced skills to lead and manage their teams effectively.

• Develop their leadership capabilities and personal awareness
• Gain a nationally recognised qualification

Education Requirements
The training provider is committed, in principle, to the on-going development of arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Providers should ensure that participants registering for Level 4 ILM programmes should have a NFQ Level 5 major award or equivalent qualification and/or relevant life and work experiences. Participants must be fluent in English with excellent written English skills in order to achieve the assessment criteria. The assessments for this course draw on learners own practical experience and as such participants need to be employed and have access to an organisation in which they can plan, execute and reflect on a number of management activities.


Age Requirements
Applicants for any courses leading to the awards listed on this framework must be over 18 years of age.


Learning Aptitude
Participants must be currently employed, and must be or aspire to be, in a supervisory, team leader or middle management role. Applicants seeking entry to the programme must also be capable of completing the programme assessments. They must have achieved a minimum of a NFQ level 5 major award or its equivalent prior to entry to the programme, or have achieved the relevant skills, knowledge and competences through work experience.

Previous Experience
Participants must be defined as an ‘employee’. Under Skills to Advance policy, ‘employees’ are defined as those who work part-time or full-time under a contract of employment, whether oral or written, express or implied, have recognised rights and duties and are in receipt of pay for their service. Self-employed persons are eligible to participate.

For the purposes of this programme, participants must be currently employed, or aspire to be promoted to/transferred into a supervisory, team leader or middle management role

ILM – Managing Risk in the Workplace Managing Risk in the Workplace (8605-403) City & Guilds
This module is designed to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge to identify, evaluate, monitor, and minimise risks within your organisation effectively.
To qualify for this course you need to be in employment.
Learners must have good verbal and written command of the English language.
The ability to correctly interpret and respond to written and verbal instruction is essential for both the assessment and tuition elements of this programme.
