WAT ESOL QQI 1 L&S

The aim of this programme is to ensure non-native English language speakers with low proficiency in English can develop their English language and literacy skills. Learners will have the opportunity to develop fundamental listening and speaking, reading and writing skills, thereby empowering them to better participate in their lives in Ireland.

Education Requirements
This award is targeted at ESOL and Migrant learners. As such, the eligibility criteria for migrants (pp. 10-14) should apply when assessing applicant eligibility to participate.
All applicants will meet with Programme Co-ordinator or tutor, who will assess the applicant’s interest and readiness for the programme. Bearing in mind the profile of ESOL Level 1 learner, this initial meeting will be used to assess learner suitability to enter the programme. Furthermore CMETB, in conjunction with SOLAS, has developed an initial and ongoing assessment toolkit to assess the English language level of migrant learners. This toolkit may also be used to assess learner suitability to enter this programme.
