Gardening for Beginners (QQI Level 2)
Learn the basics of gardening while building your reading, writing and everyday communication skills in a friendly and supportive environment. This practical course will help you identify common plants, flowers and trees, use gardening tools safely, and grow your own flowers or vegetables.
As part of the course, you will develop literacy skills by reading seed packets and gardening instructions, learning new gardening words, keeping a simple gardening diary, and completing easy worksheets. You’ll also build confidence using numbers through activities such as measuring, planning and calculating the cost of plants and materials.
No previous gardening experience is needed—just an interest in learning new skills and enjoying the outdoors.

No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 1 when accessing a Level 2 programme.
