Pathways to Education with IT and English Language
Programme
A practical course preparing adult learners with the skills, knowledge and competence to access a range of QQI Level 5 Further Education Courses in Healthcare, Fashion Design and IT Skills.
The course is also designed to support learners who first language is not English. The teaching of practical skills is combined with QQI 4 English Language Support so they can take the next step to a QQI Level 5 programmes with a view to employment.

Start Date: 14-09-2026 Hours/week: 22 Hrs 00 Mins Duration: 37 weeks
Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

This course is designed as to prepare adult learners for Waterford VTOS QQI Level 5 Design Programmes and for a range of QQI Level 5 programmes especially in Healthcare.
Eligible applicants must be 21 yrs of age and over and in receipt of an eligible Social Protection Payment for 6 months or more.
Payment of Job Seeker’s Benefit will be retained for the duration of the course.
Direct Provision residents with “Permission to Work” are welcome to apply.
English Language support classes QQI Level 4 are available.
Affordable childcare support is also available through the National Childcare Scheme.
An Accommodation Allowance may be available to successful applicants who have to relocate to attend the course.
Meal and travel allowances may be available.
