Pathways to Education with IT and English Language
Programme
A new part-time course for learners whose first language is not English and who have already attained a Level 3 ESOL standard. This P/T course focuses on immersing learners in English language skills with IT skills to attain the standard, knowledge and competence to access a range of QQI Level 4 & 5 Further Education programmes in Healthcare, Information Technology and Business.
The teaching of practical skills is combined with QQI 4 English Language Support so learners can take the next step to employment.

Start Date: 07-09-2026 Hours/week: 10 Hrs 00 Mins Duration: 36 weeks
Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

This course is designed as to prepare adult learners for Waterford VTOS QQI Level 5 Design Programmes and for a range of QQI Level 5 programmes especially in Healthcare and IT & Business.
