Sports, Exercise & Coaching
This programme is orientated towards the requirements of the growing sports and leisure industry with particular emphasis on sport coaching, exercise and health. It provides practical and theoretical modules for learners interested in pursuing a career in this growth industry.
There is a strong practical element to this programme. Students coach in local primary schools on a weekly basis. In addition they participate and lead various exercise based classes.

Start Date: 02-09-2024 Hours/week: 21 Hrs 30 Mins Duration: 33 weeks
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Minimum statutory school leaving age (16+)
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.
