Waterford Youthreach welcomes EU Commissioner Eliza Ferreira
WWETB staff & students of Waterford Youthreach welcomed EU Commissioner Eliza Ferreira on Monday to their building on O’Connell Street, Waterford to share how the Youthreach programme has helped them, and discuss their plans for the future.
Students past and present shared their experiences of learning through the Youthreach programme which provides two years integrated education, training and work experience.
Basic skills training, practical work training and general education are features of the programme, and the application of new technology is integrated into all aspects of programme content.
There is a strong emphasis on personal development, on the core skills or literacy/numeracy, communications and IT, along with a choice of vocational options and a work experience programme.
Commissioner Ferreira is responsible for Cohesion and Reforms, and included Waterford in her tour of Ireland yesterday, where she visited a number of EU funded projects across Waterford city.
