Interior Design with Upcycling and Refurbishment Skills Yr 1
Programme Aim
The Interior Design QQI 5M5054 Award teaches the practical skills of upcycling and refurbishment, knowledge of furniture and fittings, paint techniques and the use of colour and light to create and modify interior environments. Computer Aided Design (Adobe, Sweethome, Sketch Up) teaches the skills of creating professional mood boards and design plans to clients.
Graduates will be able to work in interior related retail area or progress to further and higher education and training.
Work Experience is in the second year of the programme which allows the learner to apply the practical skills gained over the two years in a working environment.
LEO sponsored “Start Your Own Business” and Social Media Workshops are offered in the second year of the programme.

NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competency to be employed in interior design or progress to further and higher education and training.
Under the Higher Education Links Scheme, Interior Design QQI 5M5054 graduates can progress to WIT programmes in BSc(H) in Architectural & Building Information Modelling Technology; BSc in Architectural Technology; Bachelor of Architecture (H). BA (H) in Design (Visual Communications).
Payment of Jobseeker’s Benefit will be retained for the duration of the programme.
No Meal and Travel Allowance.
