VTOS Introduction to Health Sciences Level 4
Programme Aim
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the relevant knowledge, skill and competence in a broad range of personal skills which enable personal development and active citizenship, and/or to progress to employment and/or further education or training.
This course offers a practical and theoretical introduction to the world of nursing, community care, gyms, sports coaching, health related care settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, retirement facilities or in clients’ own homes. Using it as a stepping stone for Further Education studies in Year 2, graduates could apply for related courses in Health and Health Care in WCFE

Start Date: 14-10-2024 Hours/week: 28 Hrs 00 Mins Duration: 40 weeks
Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.

Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

On completion of this programme learners will have acquired a broad range of personal skills which will enable personal development and active citizenship, and/or to progress to employment and/or further education or training.
It will also set our Graduates up with an excellent knowledge base for Year Two when they will select their next direction of study for a QQI Level 5 qualification in one of the following areas within WCFE:
